I recently ordered Lardy's TRT, so I know the answer will more than likely be on the DVD's.

I am reviewing the Total Retriever Flow Chart and I notice a term that I have yet to hear, Stick Fetch. Can someone explain what this is.

Thanks

Stick fetch is a stage in FF . You use a crop as the force tool instaed of the collar. You do not need to sting the dog just a light to mod tap . Also the dog does not get force every time.

Ross, If you'll recall, I used the heeling stick as part of fetching and holding exercise with your dog on Friday. Normally, this is a specific step at the end of FF. As another way of applying pressure, it rocks the boat a bit and tells you if your FF was solid. it also gives them some compulsion to go on caommand if done corectly. It's not a big deal, just something you do for a few days.

Later, you can stick tap them with a fetch if a bird was dropped instead of ear-pinching.

I suppose now you're dying to use your new stick!

Cheers

While I was writing the post I was thinking about how you were using the stick on Abbie while doing the fetch and hold with her.

I went back to FF with her from beginning starting with hold and so on. Now that I pinch the "meatier" part of her ear I get a much better response out of her. I can hold the bumper a foot in front of her face and she'll reach for it, same if I hold it off to the side over her head, just off the floor and so on. I'll re-enforce the FF with her and go from there.

I am going to wait for the Lardy videos though before I go much further.

By the way, lots of useful info in the back issues of Retrievers Online. A lot of the stuff you explained to me Friday I am coming across in the issues. I can see they will be a great learning tool

Thanks.
