Does anybody feed Nutro. I can't find Purina Pro Plan Pro Performance or the Eukanuba anywhere around here and everyone has the Nutro High Performance, same protien and fat percentages as Purina.

Is the Nutro a good food?

Don't go by me but I tried Nutro with my First Brittany and I swear she looked like she was failing. Her coat went Dull and washed out and she did not look Healthy. I switched her to then Royal Cannie Natural Blend and she got her Rich Color back and Spirit in her eyes again. I now Feed Canidae All Life Stages and I love it. ( So Far ) I have feed about 8 Large Bags so far to my Dogs.

My Dogs love the Canidae cookies too.

Nutro's Can food is on the Recall list too and it just makes me think twice about what they must be putting into their Dry also . I just would not use it. But that is just my personal Feelings.

I feed Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed Puppy food. Dax's coat is nice and shiny (as you can see) and his energy levels are, let's say, more than sufficient! :2:

Maybe they have change their food now or maybe it was just not good enough for my girl. But it was that food that was not good for my dog. She got way better when I changed. Not all foods are good for all dogs. Try till you get the one that works for your dog.
I do know, alot of Corn ( Gluten ) in the foods - alot of dogs can not handle it. Maybe that was it. It was about 8 years ago now Since I had to switch from it.

A Few of my owners beleive any Dry food has been over cooked and the real Natural good in them has been processed out so they put in Additives. So they feed the Raw Diet. I just can not go there yet. So I looked for a food that is as close to it as I can find and that does not put in Corn or filler.

Food Issue is one of the Biggest Issues out there. Just because there is so many companys producing it and all Claiming to be the Best.

All I can say is, if your dog is not doing well on one kind try another till you find the right one for your dog.

I am currently feeding Eagle Pack Large Breed, not power, and her coat is nice, and her energy is fine, but I am just now shopping between 30/20 feed.

The Purina Pro Plan Performance is the same price as the Eukaneuba Sporting, the Eagle Pack is a couple bucks more.

I check with my local feed store, and they are more expensive than petsmart, so I won't be supporting location business... 1 or 2 $ a bag I'd suck it up, but at 10$ more per bag, It's not right...

I forgot to Add , My Parent's Dog kept Throwing up all the time and they switched from Nutro's Natural Blend to Eagle Brand and she is doing good now, thank goodness!
She is a Cockapoo and not a Brittany.

My Sister feeds her Chocolate Lab - O'Roy and has a Shiny Coat but O'Roy is one of the worst on the Market for Filler that dogs can not use in their System but she will not Change because O'Roy is Cheap. I just worry about the long Range Quality of life with that dog. I hope she does not get Seriously ill one day and it could have been prevented with better Quality of food.

Isn't that a type of bird? :1:

I agree though, I think all dogs react differently to different types of food. Same as us I guess, what works for one may not work for another.

Yeah I know - Cockapoo - Some of the Names for Mix Breeds are so funny , but My Parents:sad1: had 2 purebreds before , an Aussie and a American Cocker Spaniel , 2 different times and both dogs ended up being bad and either unhealthy like the Aussie or terrible Bitting Temper like the American Cocker. So they got shyed away from Purebreds after that. Before the Purebreds - they always had mutts so I guess that is what they returned too. She is a perfect dog for them though.

Another one that I saw that made me snicker was "Labradoodle" I think? Too funny!

I ran into the Pro Plan Performance problem awhile ago when I had a freebie bag coupon. The only place I could find it was Petsmart. All the other large pets stores (paulmac's, etc) said they did not get enough demand for it to stock it in stores or their warehouse's. Petsmart mgr. (Whitby) said if I wanted to order in bulk he would give me a better price. I tried a bag and saw no noticable difference and stuck with Euk Large Breed Performance.
Goldendoodle, labradoodles, cockapoo's, one thing in common......high priced mutts........

Choosing the best dog food can be confusing and even overwhelming, but it is one of the most important things we do for our hunting pal. There is an excellent article in the current issue of Spaniel Journal on this topic. The writer deciphers the ingredient listings - and explains them. Check it out... http://spanieljournal.com

There was a bunch of ladies talking at work about all the oodle breeds and how you could tell if one was "purebred". I told them the only way to be sure you are getting a good one is to find someone that charges over $2000. That way you are sure that you're getting a good deal.
As for foods, I have tried a couple different ones including Eagle Pack power, and I have settled on Ultra Advantage that I buy up in Lindsay. I am happy with the results, and I see absolutely no difference in my dog from the Eagle Pack
