We left the north end earlier after doing the field session up there,

You should have stopped by and seen some real dogs at work.... No pussy footing with hand signals and whistle blowing, steering the dogs :stirpot:

your such a joker jack:icon1_lol:

if ya learned how to control yer dog ya wouldn't have to be chasen it over hells half acre

might save some money on those boots ya wear out every season, put the cash towards getting your self a real dog

i don't really have to get into the effort and commitment it took to get my dog performing at the level she is but will say pussy footing don't discribe it in the least

now all kidding aside,i have had the oppertunity to to watch pointers at work and even helped out at training sessions and as far as i'm concerned it's each their own [it's all good] but no way would i trade my lab for one

i would have stop in and enjoyed your trial im sure if it had not been my wife's and i anniversary and she has been so understanding about the time i've been spending afield lately preparing for the up coming grand that i just had to get home and give that lovely lady a big fat kiss

BdBHunts, I'm running my Pudelpointer pup up at Pineridge this weekend at the NAVHDA Toronto chapters' Test in Natural Ability. Is this the test you mentioned? Maybe see you there.

Cheers, Tom

Well, actually I could've use a few more numbers.... on the score card:second:

The final tally was 4,4,3,4,4,3,4, for a 103 Prize II.
His field work and track where excellent. Where we fell down was on the bumper retrieves on the water portion. He did it, eventually, but not before a break between the 2 retrieves to go around and visit some of the other dogs waiting their turn. He was distracted and not focused on the water retrieves and maybe a little bored of bumpers (overtraining?). So I lost a point on the water and a point on desire. He 8 months old and the only way I could see to have got around this would be to have used more enforcement and correction on his water work and I had been trying to keep it fun. I also hadn't trained for the water with enough distractions, other dogs people etc around. My fault. I was very happy with his performance overall, and learned alot from the judges and watching the other dogs run. I may run him again in NA next spring to try for the coveted 112 Prize I. Dilly'll be running his Wirehair at the Grand River Chapter's spring test, and it's close to home for me.

Met some great people and saw some good dog work and learned somethings for the next go round.

Cheers, Tom

Congratulations...... The score you received is very respectable, allows you the knowledge that Dilly is a fine prospect as a dog to train for hunting.

Remember, every dog has his day!~,

As he gets older there is a theory called the terrible two's... As he approaches the teenage years his cooperation may drift off on days , some more frequently than others and today you get a four and tomorrow you could get 0.

Thanks Big Bird, I should clarify that my dog's name is "Blitz". Dilly is a board member who's training a pup out of Ontdon's stud "Browning", and is planning to run him in NA next spring. He was away moose hunting for the test I was at.
I'm not entirely convinced that "Dillys'" got as much potential as you give him credit for but I will keep working with him.:spoton:

I may see you at the NA Test in the spring, my daughter will probably run our pup again, not that 103 Prize 2 is bad, that is what Rose got at 5 months.

:wtf: What have I done to deserve this? :icon1_lol:

Seriously, WTG with Blitz...I hope your new knowledge of the test will help out with me and the "Kaiser"
