Man I can't tell you how much the blood is pumping right now. Saw a whack of mallards, woodies, teal, blacks and oh yeah.....geese.

Got home from work at 8:00 this morning, changed loaded up the gear and the dog and off we went. Well anyways, we got one. This was Abbies very first retrieve on a live flier. It took 4 sends and 9 shells later for her to finally bring it home but she did. She had a good fight on her hands but she didn't back down, lots of barking and hissing out of both dog and goose. The last send she finally said screw it and brought it in. And she wanted more afterwards.

And as for the line manners at the hunt tests I saw...She was rock solid, no noise, didn't break....totally differant dog....ABSOLUTELY AWESOME....

Here's some pics...of my dogs very first retrieve on a real hunt...a goose no less......

Christ Ross, try shooting the good next time, and not just letting the dog do all the work! :icon1_lol:

Congrats to the dog, and to you!!! Pretty green on my end...:greenwithenvy:

I remember my dogs first goose retrieve, the goose was not dead and pulling on the dogs ears and pecking at his face. The next goose got run over by my dog hard. he never slowed down when he got to it and bulldozed it square through the chest aiming for the goose's rear end. Tried to nock the wind out of it first. poor dog ..first two geese were not shot properly....I should learn to shoot eh.

I think that if we had been hunting on land, Abbie would have done the same. She's a hard charger. The only thing she plowed through this morning was mud, water, lily pads, stumps and more mud...for four round trips. AS for the shooting properly...that's why we have dogs...

Congrats Nimkii !!!!

I think the one memory everyone cherishes is a dogs first retrieve.
