Tim, I would have never moved from my opening day spot, I would have warned these dumb ass fishermen that I was hunting, then five minutes later///////////, they would move then!!! I dare anyone to get in my way opening morning
Im glad your field hunt went ok!
You say they had a young lad with them, that makes them double jerks, teaching a kid to disrespect a fellow outdoorsman! You sound like too nice of guy! Hope the rest of your season is good! :spoton:

I think they were hunting, read it again Tom... Also Tom, posting a comment like that makes all hunters look like the monsters the media portrays us to be. I don't think it's in good taste, joking or not.
Tim good on you for allowing the kid to enjoy his likely first day in the field. I know it's important to you, and you showed it with this move.

Not in the lease, I scout hard to find my opening spot and post it for open of Geese and open of duck, I build a good blind way ahead of openning just so dumb asses dont park near me. It was there job to do the same. As far as the Kid enjoying his first hunt in a blind that didnt belong to him, I would say thats bad teaching and should be corrected right then and there.
Come to Gananoque area and try to hunt a blind that you didnt build openning day, Bad, Bad mistake, even worse, do it in a bass-boat,,lol,,, I know some Bays I wouldnt even drive near, let alone try to set up!
Bottom line, those guys would have packed up and moved, not me!!
If they had of asked ahead of time, I would have helped them find a spot.
I raised my two boys to respect other hunters and there hunting grounds, I told they they could get SHOT trying to take over another mans blind on openning. Same goes for seting up to close to a hunters tree stand, give the guy some respect and move on!
Frank, who was joking,,,not me! Its the ignorant that give hunters a bad name by teaching there kids the wrong way to hunt, they should have known better just by reading the hunting safety course.

showed up to find a bass boat about ten feet from my posted spot they said they did not see my sign
Is this usually done? - posting a sign to reserve a spot to hunt from - by boat?
I'm not a hunter but am an avid fisherman. I have not seen postings/signs of this sort before - admittedly, I have never looked for one.

What hever happened to taking the high road?
Promoting violence is not someting you should be teaching your kids and if this is what you taught them, I feel very sorry for them! There is enough violence in this world and we (hunters) have enough trouble promoting our sport without comments that would hurt it.
Having a poor opener is way better than missing the next 20 because you got charged for careless use of your firearm. I think it would be simlper to call the game wardens and let them know that someone is impeeding your hunt, which btw is illegal and holds a fairly stiff fine.

Hey tim it's Darcy, glad to hear you had a good field hunt. that to bad about the water hunt, I also think you did the right thing by moving. As hunters we
have enough discrimination, laws and guidelines to fallow we don't need anything else for people to hold against us, like viloance over a hunting spot.

Ok guys, relax, I havent killed no one yet!!! And yes, Jojoe we post our blinds on the water, next time your out look along the marsh line and you will see them, they should be around 200 yards apart. most of these blinds can be seen all year long, look for skids and old board frames, they have to be redone every year due to weather abuse!
For you guys that thinks they have a kid killer on the board, let me explain what I would have done if it was me.
First I would tell the intruders they have taken my openning day blind, showing them my sign. I would then tell them they will have to pack up and move! This is where it usally ends if the guys have any respect at all. If that didnt work, I would get very rude and start to set-up right on top of them. My boat would be right in there coys. Im sure they would now get the picture that I was staying. NO I WOULDNT use gun fire! But my gun would be loaded at shooting hour.
Lets put it this way,,,Im not giving up the blind I took a month to get ready, just to have joe blow take it from me, SORRY it just wont happen, even when Im 80!
Now if it was a fisherman that started fishing out side my coys, I would stand up high and tell him I was there hunting and he was in shooting range, please move off. Thats where it should end! If they decide they are ok, I might fire a shot to show them I was hunting, the sound of the gun will get them to move! No I dont shoot at them, even though I might want to..lol...
Ive had late hunters come and join me and the boys in my blind before, and they where welcome, but dont try to take my blind!!!
Frank, I never thought I would see the day you would be Speechless!!! :icon1_lol:
Labber, My boys are 28 & 30 now, you wont find a better pair to hunt with, safety always come first with them! Its me you got to watch out for!!! :1:

I'm not speecheless in the sense that I had nothing to say, I was speechless in the sense that I was appalled and had nothing even close to polite enough to post on this board. I respect this forum, and comments like the one you posted give me and other sportmen on this board a bad image.
Absolutely the most disgusting post I've ever seen you make Tom. I know who not to hunt beside if we ever have a forum hunt.

I agree with everyone that what I posted was a in bad taste to others that might learn from it and think hunters are gun crazy. Im SORRY, and will remove the one part. It just boils my blood to think a fellow hunter would try to ruin my openning hunt! :sorry:

I gotta give it to you, you sure keep your sense of humor about yah... Thanks for editing your post Tom, I think it's for the best... Regarding where I'm going, just tell him to find the bass boat, and that's where I will be LOL
I agree that it's frustrating to have your spot taken, and that's why the laws are in place, and had Tim insisted, I'm certain they would have moved... Tim simply took the highroad and allowed a young kid to have a fun morning hunting without causing a fuss.
If you're hunting out of the boat, and not a blind, it's very easy not to see a sign in the dark... These are not reflective signs... Just a stick in the Mud

Eric and I went out on Friday and pounded our stake in the mud... it's in the middle of a very small inlet so if someone "doesn't see it, they'll be running it over lol
