We were out in the blind at o'dark thirty this morning and we heard a lot of shooting. Not a lot flying, has one single come in, hit a mallard hen on the second shot. I had to laugh because Abbie had a 2 foot retrieve, it landed just shy of land. She didn't look too impressed, she must have been saying get it yourself. She picked it up and brought it to hand anyways.

Then the geese came in, ejected the #4's and threw in the BB's, fired two shots and new something was wrong, the bottom barrel on my o/u ballooned at the muzzle, and the ribbing seperating the two barrels seperated at the end. The top barrel was fine. I looked down the barrel and the choke was chewed to @#$!:wtf: . Packed up and went home, and off to Gagnon's in Oshawa we went, that's where I got the gun. They looked at it and figure the barrel is off center causing the choke to have a bit of an edge, enough to cause that damage. Anyways, the gunsmith is going to have a look at it, that warranty better cover a new barrel, that's all I can say.

I'll be using my Remington 870 next weekend. I'll give it a good going over before we load up the trailers and head back to the camp.

It's lookin like I'll have a pretty big paperweight at home. Searching on line and reading about Baikal warranties, unless they can find fault with the manufacturing of the gun, they won't replace it. Let's see what happens.

Remington has an inexpensive over under gun in the SPR series, it is the same gun - they bought, acquired, struck a deal? with Baikal. Even the owner's manuals are identical.

Nimkii,
why not just use your 870. Its a great gun in my opinion. Though I may be biased and pumps are well suited to the duck blind. Or do you just like shooting OU's.
Personally I often need that third shot.

I like the o/u's. The look is classic, they feel great, swing nice, they just feel and fit real nice. As for the third shot, everytime I have to use the third shot in my 870, I miss, just wasting ammo. The 870 will get a good workout this weekend, 3 day duck hunt starting on Thursday evening. Taking a few boxes of #4's with me.
