My Pup's first Ducks
Had to work yesterday, so no early morning. Did sneak out for the last hour and managed to knock down a couple of Woodies on a river close to home. Was the first time out after ducks for my pup "Blitz" so I wasn't sure what to expect. Both birds ended up being lively cripples, but the pup settled down after a bit and put the tracking training we'd been doing for his NAVHDA test to good use. The second bird had left the river and was a 40 yard track a long way from where I thought it would be. I kept my mouth shut and let the dog work and he did good. Two Juvie woodies aren't a big deal as far as duck hunts go, but it was great to me to see him show his potential.
