Well I Made It Out On Saterday Morning For The Opener. Not Alot
Flying But Manage To Get Three. One Wood Duck And Two Mallards.
On Friday Night We When Out To The Blind To Make Sure Everything Was A Go On Saterday. Then When We Got To The Blind We Found A
New Blind Had Been Built 15-20 Yards Away From Our Blind, But The
Part That I Was A Little Pissed About Was Our Blind Was In The Same Spot Last Year And We Moved It Because A House Had Gone Up About 75 Yard Right In Front Of The Blind. So I Called The Guy Whoes Name Was On His Post, After A Short Talk On The Phone We
Were Both Going To Be Hunting There The Next Day. He Was Nice On The Phone And I Didnt Care That He Wanted To Hunt On The Same Island But I Didn't Want Him Shooting Towards The New House. He
And His Friend Did Anyway? Ow Well Enough Going On About That.
Then Monday I Took The Day Off Work And Hit The St Lawrence. Had A Good Hunt. Five Mallards And My Friend Got Three Mallards And One Black Duck.

YES HUNTMASTER THERE WAS ALOT OF GEESE FLYING BUT WE ONLY HAD
A FEW GEESE DECOYS TO SET OFF THE DUCK SPREAD, IM NOT A BIG GOOSE
HUNTER, I KNOW IM GOING TO GET A BOO FROM A FEW FOR SAYING THAT.
OW AND THE FACT THAT I SUCK AT CALLING GEESE DOES NOT HELP EITHER:spoton: . BUT YOU ARE RIGHT WE HAD THE HOLE ST LAWRENCE TO OUR SLEVES. NOT EVEN PEOPLE FISHING. I ONLY SEEN ONE FLOCK OF DIVERS AND ONE PINTAIL THAT I MISSED. :frown:

Nothing wrong with not liking geese, but if its because of how hard they are to pick, try just breasting them out. Thats all I save when I get to many. Pop a hole with your knife in the belly section, then peel the skin back to expose the breast, then run your knife along the breast bone like you would a fish. take about two minutes a bird!
If its the wild taste and toughness, try soaking them in butter milk over night or coke, then cook them in your favorite recipe.
as far as calling, anyone can call in geese, buy yourself a canadian honker or better, when calling say the words hur-unk as you blow, linger on the unk. If the geese respond try a few hut-hut -hut using your tongue to stop the air between huts. STOP when the birds are coming in! I was coying large flocks with only 9 geese coys out with my duck coys, you dont need many!
Divers will be here soon, this week-end Ill bet!! I love water hunting, cant beat the sun coming up while in a blind!!!

Your kidding I hope!!! Or you have never had a good goose dinner! I shoot just fine, and before the season is out, I will take my limit in geese every time I can. Smoked, Fried, Baked, Barbecued, Stewed, you name it, ill cook it. Damn good eating! :amen:

I'm with Tim. Shooting geese is fun .....just like shooting fish in a bucket not a barrel. :) Ducks are the quarry of my choice. Much harder to decoy and requires way more knowledge and skill.

the more i read your posts the more i like u Eric gees are great to eat i just like to shoot ducks better i think it goes back to my days as a young hunting when shooting geese was not done just because they were verry few on the lakes but the ducks were around .My thinking now is set up for ducks and kill geese as abouns works for me .if u are hunting right shooting geese is like shooting fish in a barrel at least the ducks can still make me cuse under my breath not to meany geese do that:eek:  Besides have u see Darcys dog it could carrey three geese back and not break a sweat CAN U SAY SUPER TOLLER:rockon:

Hello Eric, Yes I Asked Why He Build The Blind So Close, He Said That He Didn't See It. A Story That I Could Believe Because We Had It Hid In The Cat Tails. Still The Guy Should Move It To The Other End Of The Island Or On The Backside Were We Are. I Just Don't Like Seeing People Doing Stupid Things Like That Because For The Five Years I Have Been Hunting There We Have Had No Game Wardens People Complain Or Any Problems.
