Just out of curiosity, does anyone make their own food or feed raw?

I don't I feed dry food. Don't know a lot about raw diets but I know that 3Blackdogs feeds raw or at least he use to so he may be able to answer any questions you might have.

I've been considering making my own food or feeding raw. What do you feed and how much.

We feed mainly chicken necks in the am. The pm meal varies - sometimes more chicken or ground beef, lamb, tripe, turkey, duck necks, mackeral, venison when I can get it etc. They get a few scoops of veggies each weak but not a lot. No grains. I also add some supplements to their food - EFAs, etc.
Amounts vary by the dog and their activity level. Right now, my almost 9 year old gets about 8 ounces a day (4 ounces per meal). My 3 year old gets about 28 ounces per day (14 ounces a meal) and my 20 month old gets about 22 ounces a day (11 ounces a meal). These amounts will go up as we get back into more regular field training. It's pretty easy to check them every day and see if they need a little less or a little more.
If you can find good sources, it's not *that* much more than some of the premium kibbles. I'd love to be able to afford the convenience of the pre-made raw diets but they're just way too expensive to feed to 3 large dogs.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
Pam
