Anyone in the Peterborough Area that trains through the week (evenings) let me know. I need to steady Abbie up at the line and keep her quiet. She's fine when it is just me and the family, but strangers and other dogs is a whole new ballgame.

Talk to the group you are training with on the week ends, I know plenty of them train through the week. You just need to work your way into a training group. WHat you will find is that if you can get into one of these groups you will get a lot more work done in each training session because you have smaller numbers to work through.

Start asking around and you will find that there are people training on small groups away from the club days and if they have the right amount of people they can get more work done. Training alone is hard so if you can get a good smaller group you will really benifit.

I'm no expert by any means, just lots of books, magazines, DVD's and help from long time dog trainers. Check your pm's again and we'll set something up.

I was gonna train today but it's raining too hard.

I bought a retreiver so I didn't have to get wet.....

Its best to train in all kinds of environments, if the dog is only run in nice weather, nicely taken care of fields, ponds with no scum or stumps he won't know how to handle that stuff when he encounters it. Although I must admit if it is raining hard in the fall I probably wouldn't be heading out to the lake.

Yesterday as an example, I never trained Abbie in the fog, I never had her run down a hill and up a hill into thick cover and never had her around a corn field. She had issues with marking due to the fog, as well on one retrieve she took off into a corn field, she had never been exposed to one.

Trust me the dog doesn't care what the weather is like, it is the handlers that don't like the bad weather.

Phrase from a pro trainer that has stuck with me "rainy no trainy".
