For those of you who frequent Hullet, I have a couple questions.
1) How often do they plant birds and in what numbers?
2) Are the plants made in the morning or afternoon?
3) Is there a consistantly better area than others?
I know this is like asking for a list of a guys favourite fishing holes, but I got a young wirehair pup that I need to get on some birds that I didn't plant...any info would be appreciated.

To get good answers, I'd suggest you call Matt at the Hullett office. The answers to these questions change yearly.

Aprox, 100 pheasants are released every week during hunting season.
Every thing you need to know and more should be here, including contack info...
Good Luck ....Marc....

Dilly, they used to plant birds Thursday and Sunday, not sure what's up now. They generally don't plant birds the weeks of the 2 Shotgun deer hunts, and the birds seemed to pretty much be all out by the end of Nov.
The best areas are those with good cover, not too much standing crop, not too many other people, and where birds were recently planted:laugh:
Once they've been pushed around for awhile head for the gnarliest cover you can find.

The best spots are the beans fields. I've seen "Ontario coveys" go up in there during trials. I don't like to go into the bean fields but once the crops are taken off........

Thanks for the tips guys...I will give them a call and just keep plugging along I guess. I was there Monday morning and got three good points but no birds...I guess they could've made for it on foot when the dogs bell approached.
