Hey,

Spent the morning out duck hunting this morning with Waterfowler65 and his dog Gunner in Long Point Bay. Being the rookie that I am when it comes to duck hunting Marc took me out and showed me the ropes on how the Unit works and everything I need to know about Hunting Long Point.

Gotta admit Marc has a first class outfit that most waterfowler's would love to have. Well the hunting part of this morning was a little slow ( ok really slow as hardly any birds were flying) and we did not even get the chance to fire off a shot it was still a great morning. Nothing better than spending the morning talking to a fellow dog guy and waterfowl hunter.

Even though shooting your limit is a great thrill, being in good company and having a few laughs is what its really all about.
I guess thats why it's called hunting and not just killing.......lol.....I'm really glad you had a good time Drew, like you said this morning a bad day hunting is better than a good day at work!!!! I do agree that things should pick up in a few weeks when the northern birds start their way down. The only disapointment was that Gunner never got any retrieves in...

I think that most of us here basicly started dog training because we were hunters first I know I did, and it's the ultimate treat for you'r dog to actually get fresh birds to retrieve. My dog has been lucky enough to have had live flyers shot over him several times this summer, I do recomend that if you can in training on ocasion do this to pick him up a little from the training duldrums that might incur over the long grind between hunting seasons.

Later....Marc...
