Help
I own a Female Viszla and I am interested in any thoughts of who/where I can get her trained. She is about 3 years old now and hasn't had any significant field training.
Ideally, I am looking for a professional trainer with Viszla experience.
I am located in Waterloo ON.

Thanks.
I really don't mind if the trainer is around here. I am willing to send the dog where I need to for the trianing. Also the cost is not too big of an issue. That is, if it is the right trainer/place I'll figure a way to make it work.
Any further thoughts would be awesome!!

Liz is supposed to be a great trainer. Don't know if she would have space as I know she is always busy. Go to her website for further info www.pointblankdogs.com. She is also usually at most CKC tests and there is one at Luther Marsh this coming weekend, you could come and see her then if she's there.

Hmm Wiseguy eh?, why I otta'
But seriously. You could also check out Uplander Kennels. Ugo's close to Binbrook and has trained pretty well all the pointing breeds. Been the dog handler on a couple of "Canada in the Rough" episodes as well. Good luck!

Ugo has helped me get two dogs to "Dog of the Year" positions. He hunts what he trials too.

Knowing Ugio :spoton: I would recomend him also I wasn't sure if he worked with pointers I know he started in Britts and now has nice setters Being a Lab guy I don't know what it takes to make a good pointer trainer. Who would they teach the dogs to run away from ya?!?! :icon1_lol: :der:

I would contact Bill Gurney. He works only with Viszlas. He's in ON near the Buffalo border.

There is also John Reid at Onpoint Kennels in Ontario - he has incredible field trial Vizslas that consistantly win and place in U.S. field trials. www.onpointvizslas.com
IMO your best to get someone that knows the breed - V's can be pretty soft and you wouldnt' want a heavy handed trainer ruining your dog.

I would recomend that you contact Liz Outram at Pointblank Kennels. She breeds and trains Vizsla's. I have seen her dogs and they are very nice. If I were to purchase another Vizsla and get it trained that would be my first contact.

The best advice I can give you is this.
Join NAVHDA, the Ontario Grand River Chapter operates around the Guelph area.
There are several members on this board, myself included.
Then once you have joined come out to a training session and we will introduce you to training a bird dog.
There are several good trainers there that will assist you, and there are a few that would be willing to take on the project as well. IF it is going to be worth your time, and theirs after they give you an honest assesment of your dog's potential.
